Two things will help us keep prescription drug prices in check: innovation and competition. We are fortunate in the United States to have plenty of both.
U.S. pharmaceutical companies spend billions on research every year. We in Congress must make sure free market competition is present, and to incentivize where it isn’t.
We also will remove unnecessary regulatory burdens to:
• Clear the backlog of generic drugs waiting FDA approval
• Get new medicines to market faster
• Permit insurance companies and drug makers to work together to help lower costs
Next time you fill a prescription, remember I am working on this issue night and day. I will never back down from standing up for Florida’s best interests, and that means making the people of the 12th District a top priority in Washington.
